Abstract

Several important determinants influence young consumers’ brand preferences. Indeed, if we examine the influence of psychological factors on consumers’ coffee preferences, several strategies can be considered. Price-focused strategies, one of these strategies, refer to the tendency of price-sensitive consumers to prioritize a product’s cost over other factors such as brand prestige or product quality. In other words, the degree to which consumers react to price changes can be considered within the scope of price sensitivity. Price-sensitive consumers particularly seek to take advantage of deals, promotions, and discounts, developing their strategies accordingly. Promotion-focused consumers are observed to prioritize quality in their choices, while affordability can also increase brand loyalty. Quality and taste-focused strategies are another determining factor in the role of psychological factors in young consumers’ brand preferences. In this strategy, the quality of the coffee beans or special recipes are particularly prominent in consumers’ coffee preferences. The product’s ability to provide a satisfying taste experience also influences consumers’ increased purchases of products with taste-focused cues (Liv d., 2024). This is because a quality and taste-focused strategy prioritizes flavor while placing significant emphasis on positioning it to encourage consumer appreciation. A health and sustainability strategy is another factor influencing consumer purchase intentions. In this context, nutritional labels are important because they provide more comprehensive product information, allowing consumers to compare products. While organic or plant-based milk options can be considered within this strategy, plant-based milks are gaining popularity as a lower-calorie and more environmentally sustainable alternative. Experience and atmosphere are another effective strategy in consumers’ coffee preferences, with different store environments, in-store music, and comfortable seating areas being the most notable sub-topics. Experiential consumption is crucial for prioritizing consumer preferences. In other words, it can be said that it represents a blend of personal memories and an individual’s subjective perspective. Furthermore, atmosphere, brand experience, and product evaluation play a fundamental role in sensory brand experience. Today’s evolving technology plays a significant role in digitalization and innovation strategies. The proliferation of mobile applications and conveniences such as online ordering significantly influence consumers’ product preferences. Indeed, considering that customers use online websites or mobile devices to search for product information and compare products and prices based on their current situation, we can say that they can easily access different channels. Furthermore, digital transformation and advances in information technologies are contributing to businesses fulfilling their social responsibilities more cost-effectively and effectively. Prestige and image strategies, on the other hand, can be defined as behavioral aspects expressed in perceptual areas such as loyalty and consumer awareness or image. In other words, positioning the brand as a lifestyle is prominent in this strategy, with both the consumer’s own consumption experiences and advertising appearing as influential factors in this regard. At the same time, with the development of digitalization and innovation strategies, brand prestige is observed to be positively affected in prestige and image strategies. This is because utilizing digital platforms in the development of brand prestige provides significant time savings and creates an image on social media. Finally, localization and cultural adaptation strategies can also be said to be important in consumer preferences. This is because consumers tend to gravitate towards brands that reflect their values. Therefore, measuring global and national identities can allow brands to better understand consumers from different generations and develop global marketing strategies. In doing so, it is important for products to have appropriate designs, and consumers’ perceptions of a brand’s locality influence consumer attitudes and behaviors while creating brand equity in different ways. Identifying the psychological factors that shape young consumers’ coffee brand preferences is crucial for brands to gain a competitive advantage and develop appropriate consumer-oriented strategies. As frequently emphasized in consumer behavior literature, individuals’ preferences are shaped not only by the product’s functional benefits but also by perceptual, emotional, and cognitive processes. In this context, psychological factors such as brand image, identity affiliation, status representation, emotional satisfaction, habit, social influence, and hedonic motivation can profoundly influence young consumers’ coffee brand preferences. However, the lack of systematic examination of the relative imp
