Abstract

: Is the implementation of a co-designed, multicomponent post-ICU follow-up bundle of care feasible within a pragmatic trial design, and could it improve psychosocial recovery and reduce post-intensive care syndrome/post-intensive care syndrome-family burden for ICU survivors and caregivers? : In this mixed-methods randomized clinical trial of 20 ICU survivor-caregiver dyads, the intervention demonstrated high feasibility, with an 87.5% consent rate, strong enrollment, high data-capture rates, and no intervention-related adverse events. Compared with usual care, hypothesis-generating exploratory outcomes demonstrated that the intervention group had lower depressive symptom scores among ICU survivors. Caregivers in the intervention group had higher emotional and social functioning scores, lower anxiety and depression scores, and lower caregiver burden at 6 months. : A co-designed, dyadic post-ICU follow-up pathway is both feasible to implement and may be associated with improved psychosocial recovery, supporting the rationale for a larger multicenter trial.
