Abstract

Historically, nursing has faced challenges in terms of social recognition, reflecting a hospital-centric and physician-centered model. However, since 2003, there has been an average annual growth of 25% in the number of establishments managed by nurses, especially private practices, specialized clinics, and home care services in the South and Southeast regions. This advancement in the profession indicates a transition towards interdisciplinarity and a reconfiguration of professional roles, reinforcing the need for more horizontal and collaborative practices for the benefit of individuals, families, and communities. Despite this, creative and entrepreneurial nurses still face cultural resistance, often being perceived as merely procedural, which limits their social and professional recognition. It is noteworthy that acting in an innovative and entrepreneurial manner in nursing can be an opportunity to reshape the profession due to its potential to increase professional autonomy and visibility of nursing. Furthermore, it is characterized as a way to meet the population’s health needs in a differentiated, relevant, and timely manner.
