Abstract
A hybrid type 1 effectiveness-implementation design allows for the evaluation of the effectiveness of an occupational therapy-based drowning-prevention intervention for children on the autism spectrum while systematically examining implementation outcomes. The protocol integrates the assessment of treatment fidelity and programme-related costs alongside effectiveness outcomes, addressing critical gaps in the evaluation of complex paediatric interventions. Use of a hybrid type 1 effectiveness-implementation design enhances methodological rigour and promotes transparency in implementation-focused occupational therapy research.
