Abstract
Music interventions have been shown to alleviate breathlessness and enhance exercise tolerance. However, the applicability of previous study findings to real-world populations remains uncertain due to inherent methodological limitations. Consequently, music interventions are not yet routinely integrated into pulmonary rehabilitation practice. This study will provide insight into the expectations regarding music interventions among patients enrolled in pulmonary rehabilitation programmes as well as their healthcare providers. It will also offer an indication of the feasibility of implementing music interventions in this setting and help identify which patient groups may benefit most based on their expectation profiles. The results of this study may inform the implementation of music interventions by identifying which patients are most likely to benefit from them. In addition, the study will provide relevant insights into the preferred form and setting of music interventions from the patient perspective, thereby contributing to the design of future randomised studies.
