Abstract

Czechia received a large number of refugees from Ukraine, including children with type 1 diabetes (CwD). These children were followed for 3 years to identify the impact of treatment changes on T1D control. Are technologies (mainly CGM and AID systems) effective in improving T1D control in a disadvantaged population? Can refugee CwD reach similar T1D control as non-refugee CwD? HbA1c decreased significantly during the follow-up period, with a more pronounced decline in CwD who initiated CGM and AID. CwD who initiated AID therapy reached similar T1D control as their well-matched non-refugee peers, while those who stayed on a multiple daily injection regimen had worse outcomes.
