Abstract
Metastatic tumors to the oral cavity are rare, accounting for approximately 1%–3% of all oral malignancies. The primary sites reported in cases of oral metastasis are the lung, breast, kidney, and colon [, ]. Notably, metastases originating from gastric cancer account for less than 5% of metastatic tumors to the oral cavity (MTOC) [, ]. Because MTOC is usually detected at an advanced stage, management is often palliative rather than curative [, ]. Because mandibular metastatic lesions may mimic primary intraosseous carcinoma or odontogenic infection, establishing the correct diagnosis can be challenging [, ], particularly in patients without a known history of malignancy. Here, we report a rare case of occult advanced gastric adenocarcinoma that first presented as an intraosseous mandibular lesion with numb-chin syndrome and a nonhealing extraction socket. A 61-year-old man attended the oral surgery department of a previous general hospital in February 2023 after experiencing hypesthesia in the mental nerve distribution. presents a timeline of all clinical events after this initial visit.
