Abstract

Postcolonoscopy pain is common at 0 minutes after the procedure but largely resolves within 24 hours. Poor sleep quality is associated with higher abdominal pain intensity at 6 hours after colonoscopy. Anxiety and depressive symptom severity scores are not associated with postprocedural pain intensity; however, a prior clinical diagnosis of depression is linked to higher pain scores.
