Abstract
We developed the Self-Efficacy for Heart-Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors scale to assess self-efficacy in the integrated practice of heart-healthy lifestyle behaviors for cardiovascular disease prevention. The Self-Efficacy for Heart-Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors scale is a psychometrically robust instrument, demonstrating strong construct validity and reliability. The final 35-item scale revealed a 5-factor structure with acceptable model fit, comprising: (1) Self-Efficacy for Physical Activity, (2) Self-Efficacy for Unhealthy Eating Control, (3) Self-Efficacy for Healthy Eating, (4) Self-Efficacy for Substance Use Control, and (5) Self-Efficacy for Heart-Health Management.
