Abstract

Three distinct health literacy profiles were identified among individuals with prehypertension, reflecting varied readiness for behavioral change. Socioeconomic status, lifestyle behaviors, and psychological capital were key determinants of health literacy profiles. Development and testing of stratified, tailored interventions to address differing levels of health literacy is recommended to improve self-management and potentially reduce the progression from prehypertension to hypertension.
