Abstract
The benefit of physical activity is recognized by people with fibromyalgia, but participation is shaped by complex personal factors and actual or anticipated symptom exacerbation. The need to rest is intertwined with perceptions of sedentary behaviour, often leading to guilt and unrest. Interactions with clinicians profoundly influence self-management and self-efficacy, and foster either feelings of support or distrust.
