SARS-CoV-2 Infection-Induced Alterations in ADAR Editing Patterns Differ Between Patients Who Developed Critical Compared to Non-Critical COVID-19.

Mitochondrial unfolded protein response (UPR) acts as a central mitochondrial stress-integration hub in trauma, ischemia–reperfusion injury, and critical illness. Dysregulated UPR drives sterile inflammation, immune dysfunction, and the progression to systemic inflammatory response syndrome and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. UPR plays a context-dependent role in aging by maintaining mitochondrial proteostasis and metabolic homeostasis, thereby influencing longevity and age-related disease susceptibility.
